WIDOW’S MITE COIN: This authentic coin (circa 103 B.C. – 1st Century A.D.) was the smallest of Roman coins issued and continued to circulate during the biblical times of the New Testament (Mark 12.41-44). It is called a “Widow’s Mite” because of a story in the Bible about a poor woman who gave two mites to the Jewish Temple in Jerusalem. Jesus used this offering, all that the poor woman owned, as an example of faith and sacrifice.
