ROMAN GLASS
FRAGMENTS: Scholars believe the invention of glass occurred
around 2000 BC in northwestern Iran. Chemistry for the
coloration of glass was already in place during the reign of
Tutankhamun in Egypt around 1300 BC and colored glass was
heavily exploited for furniture and architectural inlay for
several centuries thereafter. Blue colored glass contained a
large amount of copper minerals. Although the Romans had
nothing to do with the invention of glass, they did play a
primary role in the industrialization of the glassmaking
process in the Mediterranean world which they dominated for 6
centuries. Glassware was used in everyday life, from the
lady-of-the-house’s cosmetic preparation each morning to the
setting of the table for the evening meal. Glassware used in
jewelry and storage of foodstuffs, such as wine and perfume,
were among the furnishings of a Roman burial. These Roman
Glass fragments originated from the time when the land of
Israel was part of the Roman Empire, approximately 2,000 years
ago. Each fragment has taken on a unique coloration, tone and
texture influenced by the mineral content of the earth where
it was buried.
ETHIOPIAN PRAYER BEADS: These silver and nickel content old
Ethiopian Prayer Beads are hand-forged. They were either worn
or used as a symbol of their faith and vigorously utilized as
a source meditation or comfort. It is attested that the owner
of Ethiopian Prayer Beads will gain a special and new sense of
peace, harmony, and well-being. These beads show wear on the
patina and dents in the metal caused by extensive use and age.
