ETHIOPIAN MEDICINE STICK: This hand carved old bone “medicine stick” was used by the shaman or diviner for prophecy and healing. The eyes ward off evil and provide protection and insight to the wearer. Since each medicine stick was hand carved, each one is different. Medicine sticks are still being made today out of wood or plastic for export from Ethiopia; however, those over 50 years old are being coveted by collectors due to their scarcity. A rare find indeed! Circa early 1900s; Origin: Ethiopia; Collected: Ethiopia.
