GAU LOCKET PENDANT: The Gau is one of the most recognizable amulets throughout Asia. It is often considered as a prayer box by many different faiths. The wearer may open the back of the locket and place a small prayer of their choosing , a keepsake or small photo. The Gau is worn for protection and blessings. This particular Gau locket pendant was handcrafted in sterling silver, lapus lazuli overlay and coral in Nepal, Circa late 20th Century (Origin: Nepal; Collected: Nepal). Due to the firmness of this particular locket, there is some difficulty with opening and re-securing the back.
