FRENCH CROSS VENETIAN TRADE BEADS: These wonderful old Venetian Trade Beads were wound, using a “cross pattern” and the colors of the French Flag and the French Legion of Honour Ribbon, hence the name “French Cross Venetian Trade Beads.” They may also be referred to as “Crossed Trails.” These particular beads, Circa 1880s, have travelled at least three continents and have graced numerous owners. Small chips, corrosion and pitting are a normal part of their patina, attesting to their age and extensive use. Matched beads are very rare (Origin: Venice; Collected: Africa).
